It was established on the first of August 1900 by Thomas Halpin, before that it was originally the Maigue View Hotel and built in the early 1800s. In 1930 it was then taken over by his son, Patrick Halpin and is currently run by his son, John Halpin. Guinness was shipped in wooden kegs up until 1963 where it was then replaced with metal kegs. The old style bottles were replaced with Guinness draught bottles in 1999. Apart from being glued to the tv, placing a bit with the local bookmaker, drinking pints and a few more pints, there is not much else to do in this sleepy Irish village.
