Among the many forms of transport in Krung Thep is the less attractive alternative, the canal. Long tail boats run from behind the world trade centre to Tha Banglumpoo along the Klong Saan Saeb canal. During rush hour, a twenty minute water trip from Siam to Tha Banglumpoo could take up to two hours by bus. Despite the speed and price (Eight baht), there is one disadvantage of travelling on these waters: the water here is filthy, quite dangerous and has a heavy odour of raw sewage.
